When a URL scan is refused, or you would rather it made no requests at all.
Bot protection, login walls and JavaScript-only interfaces stop the walk, sometimes at the first page. Paste mode is the way through, and it is the only mode that never touches the target site.

Give it somewhere to go
A homepage often works, because the scanner looks for a pricing or plans link and follows it. A page with no route to a plan gives the walk nowhere to go, and the report will reflect the walk rather than the flow. If you already have the checkout URL, tick manual URL mode.

Expect partial results on protected sites
The report says what it could not reach and names it — but a short report is not a clean one, and nothing in it should be read as an all-clear.

Paste mode is the fallback, not the booby prize

Local pages built to pass cleanly, to fail partially, to fail badly — and one whose checkout is mechanically defective, for the checkout-health checks. They are fake merchant sites, not real businesses, and they are the fastest way to see what a report looks like. A pre-generated report from the “bad” fixture needs no scan at all.
The fixture buttons post to the same endpoint as the scan form, so they ask for the same credentials. The sample report needs none.
